Monday, March 24th, 2025, 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm EST

Join us for our Ivy League March Lecture Series via ZOOM on Monday March 24th from 7-9pm EST which explores the transformative impact of Artificial Intelligence on various aspects of society, including economics, healthcare, education, governance, and ethics. It examines both the positive and negative potential outcomes of AI, from enhancing human capabilities to raising significant concerns about automation, privacy, and inequality. The series will delve into the societal shifts brought by AI, how we can harness its benefits, and the critical role of ethics in shaping its development.

Our guest lecturer Garrett Lang, a Cornell alum, and founder of Free Thinker Institute will lead this discussion. Garrett has spent 6 years in ad tech/marketing tech, where he worked for a number of startups, including one acquired by Nielsen where Garrett helped create The Nielsen Marketing Cloud. Garrett also spent some time in other industries working with the PwC and Google Cloud Alliance leading a product/engineering organization of over 50.

Garrett is the founder and president of PlateRate - A company that is in the process of launching a product that will allow you to earn up to a 60% credit in free food to try the best menu items at select restaurants.

Our lecture will be discussing the following:

  • Economic Growth & Disruption/Job Market: AI has the potential to create new industries and jobs but also disrupt existing ones. The lecture series will explore how economies can adapt to the challenges of AI-driven automation while maximizing the benefits of AI innovation.
  • Healthcare Revolution: AI offers solutions to some of the most significant challenges in healthcare, from improving diagnostics to providing better treatment options. However, the lecture will also address concerns regarding data privacy, the potential for inequality in access, and the need for ethical oversight in AI-driven medical practices.
  • Social Justice & Ethics: As AI becomes more embedded in daily life, its impact on social structures becomes crucial. The series will focus on ethical issues such as bias in algorithms, the risk of reinforcing societal inequalities, and the moral responsibility of creators and users of AI systems.
  • Privacy and Security: As AI collects and processes vast amounts of data, questions around privacy and security are raised. The series will explore the implications of AI on individual freedoms and the need for robust legal frameworks to protect privacy in a digital age.
  • Cultural and Psychological Impacts: AI is likely to affect how we interact with the world, each other, and ourselves. The series will delve into how AI influences culture, media, and individual behavior, and consider the long-term psychological effects of living alongside intelligent machines.
  • Entertainment: AI's impact on actors/actresses, photographers, filmmakers, and its future implications on movies, tv, photography, and more!
