Please join us to honor the ten Long Island teachers who will receive the “Distinguished Teacher Award for 2025”! All honorees were nominated by current Harvard undergraduates and then selected by the Harvard Club of Long Island’s Distinguished Teacher Awards Committee.

The award winners have created riveting academic challenges that encourage critical thinking, offered research and extra-curricular opportunities to help students find their passions, and inspired students to learn the joy of serving others. In addition to being extraordinary educators, these teachers have devoted countless hours attending to the emotional well-being of students.

At the awards ceremony, we will announce which Distinguished Teacher of 2025 will also receive a scholarship for a “Harvard Experience” on the Harvard campus.

Following the awards ceremony, Fernando Reimers, the Ford Foundation Professor of the Practice in International Education and Director of the Global Education Innovation Initiative at Harvard University, will deliver the keynote address titled “Educating Students to Improve the World.” He is interested in advancing understanding of the ways schools can empower students to participate civically and economically.
