Nothing you do in yoga should ever feel natural—or at least, not habitual. I always tell my students: “If it feels easy (even the most basic poses), ask your teacher. You’re probably doing something wrong!”
Yoga’s super power is that it skillfully reorganizes your body. It wakes up the weak and stiff places, releases overworked muscles, and recruits the slackers. Yoga evens out the left/right imbalances we all perpetuate. The result: a body returned to optimal function.
But there’s more! Yoga also retools our breathing, which not only revitalizes the body but resets the nervous system. No more peaks and troughs, no more panic followed by burnout.
For this one-hour practice, I’ve culled the crucial yoga poses and actions that lead to a healthier, happier life. Seasoned practitioners will learn how to streamline their efforts; raw beginners will skip the weeks and months of fruitless practice many of us endured without skillful guidance.
We’ll follow up our practice with a Q&A. Bring the questions you’ve always wanted to ask—or the ones that pop up as we turn your expectations of what yoga can do upside-down!
*All levels of experience and ability welcome! But please, especially as this is a virtual practice (I won’t be in the room to interact with each of you individually), work within the guidelines of what you know is safe and advisable for your body. Or just join the watch party, and learn from your armchair!
